people complained for years asking "why is Pokémon still not 3d". It was aweful being Gamefreak. They employed an insane number of sprite artists and they had to withstand heavy criticism for not "upgrading their tech". If they ever went 3d they would have to figure out what to do with all of their 2d artists. do they fire them? what do they do? now we have come full circle and people are complaining that we should be 2d. you can't please gamers. I feel so bad for those artists
