@gerrybrooksprin: Am I wrong? Civility Clause should be in ALL school policies! NO ONE should have to put up with this! #education #teacher #parenting #parents #school

As a school secretary as soon as I'm cursed at I'm hanging up. I don't get paid enough to be abused by anyone.

As a teacher, I worry about the safety of the kiddo in a home where dad has no control of his temper.

And then when his child turns out to be an asshole adult, we'll all know where it came from

We had to trespass a dad last year for calling our receptionist a b!+ch. Her crime? Asking for identification when he came to pick up his child.

In our school district, if a parent was using abusive language on the phone, we were taught to say that we will be glad to discuss this matter in a civil way, and to please call us back anytime they felt they can do that. And then hang up.

Disgusting. I subbed once years ago and one student never said here when I called their name. Marked them absent. Secretary came and asked if they were there, still never responded. It was stressful but thankfully it got corrected. We never do it on purpose. I’m leaving eduction asap

That happens to me me sometimes and all I do is just call and straighten it up as an adult. No yelling no cursing just talking and straight or out. I completely agree is was uncalled for to that extent.

Even many retail businesses have started posting civility policies and several of my doctors have verbal ones ones that come on as soon as you connect. I'm sad we've had to come to this, but happy that people are not putting up with this!

One of my 13 reasons for leaving the profession. They voted for this. I got tired of hearing my principal cussed out. Tired of hearing her take it.

When we have parents cuss us out like that on the phone, our phones somehow disconnect. It’s so bizarre. Those poor school employees.

When my daughter was in high school I got that automated call. I called the school and said I dropped her off and watched her walk in. They looked up her schedule, called the classroom and she was there. Not a huge problem. No reason to act like that.

It’s honestly a crying shame you have to point this out! Everyone is so quick to “tear someone a new one”. There is no civility any more!

Happens to us school administrative assistants more often than you know. As soon as there’s an issue, parents call that front office and we bear the brunt of their frustrations. Honestly, when we do transfer them to a principal they typically settle down real quick and treat them with much more respect than they do support staff. It’s frustrating and frankly unfair as support staff often times can’t do anything to solve their particular problem. Unfortunately it’s our reality nowadays.
