@americantravelarchives: Comment GUIDE and we’ll send you our full Colorado fall itinerary 🍂 Every fall, elk come down out of the mountains and walk right up to the edge of a Colorado town 🍂 America in 250 🇺🇸 | Episode 38 Follow americantravelarchives for more hidden gems and send this to the person you want to explore Colorado with 📍 Telluride, Colorado We spent days trying to see elk in Rocky Mountain National Park and barely got anything. A few crossing the road at night, one bull in the trees, a herd so far down a valley they were specks. We heard them bugling from our campsite one night and it was too dark to go find them. Then we pulled into Telluride and there were fifty of them right on the side of the road. We got out and watched until it was too dark to see. How to actually catch this 👇 📅 The rut runs September through October, so it’s just about to start 🌅 Early morning and late evening are when they move 🔭 Bring a zoom lens or binoculars, you should not be getting close 📢 The bugling is the whole thing. It starts low and climbs into almost a scream. 🏔 Estes Park is the famous spot, but we saw more in ten minutes in Telluride than in days inside the park ⚠️ Keep your distance. Bulls are aggressive during the rut and people get hurt every year. Stay in your car or well back on foot. Have you ever seen the elk rut in Colorado?
