but it's Ha-satan, a divine judge, that claims Job is not truly faithful to God because of his good fortune. it's not specifically the 'devil' or anything. it was a judge in God's court. and God gave him permission to test it. it has nothing to do with good verses evil - God verses the devil. This is what I studied. I'm fine with being proven wrong.

Perhaps there is a difference between Lucifer, Satan, and the devil. Lucifer is in charge of this world. His job is to test and punish humanity (because he hates us, he loves his job). Satan/the devil sound like demons, or other fallen angels who have become demonic. There are more entities than mere demons and angels after all.

ok this is good stuff! what in your opinion is hell like? lots of cultures have hell depicted differently like Norse the underworld is cold and icy. the best description I've heard is from the movie the prophecy where hell isn't lakes of fire but being taken away from God's sight and you never feel his love.

Never thought about this, but the theory also holds up in Genesis and the apple. The snake testing Adam and Eve’s faithfulness and obedience to God to not eat the fruit of the tree.

and not once did anyone in the book of Job blame Satan for anything. They all thought the source of Job's misfortune was God's judgement and Job even proclaims on the news of his family's death: "the Lord has given, and the Lord has taken away", because Satan is not an enemy. The first time the word appears in the Hebrew Scripture is Numbers 22:22, describing an angel sent by the Lord. In the parallel accounts of David's census of Israel, Scripture says that God's anger rose up (2 Samuel 24:1) and Satan rose up (1 Chronicles 21:1). These are both the same, because God's anger is the stumbling block Israel faces. Jesus refers to Peter as Satan because Peter is encouraging Him (unknowingly) to abandon His mission towards the cross by assuring He wouldn't die.

I watched a documentary on PBS years ago. Apparently from what I can recall the concept of Satan came from the Zoroastrian religion. There was another documentary series, I can no longer find called Legends. It detailed all the ancient religions and there customs and how they adapted and borrowed traditions and rituals from each other. For example the early Christian’s where simply a sect of Judaism. The concept of Mary’s emasculate conception was also adapted from a different religion. I don’t remember which one. Anyway, it’s all very fascinating.

i dont even know what youre trying to do anymore 😭 polish satans reputation?? recruit him as another disciple?? satan is the tempter.. his whole job is making disobedience look attractive, manipulating people and pulling them away from God. thats literally how temptation works,,, imagine spending centuries building the worst reputation in history, just for a pastor to show up and start cleaning your résumé 😂 satan himself would be like brooo please stop helping me 😭
