I immediately thought of Selena Gomez. She’s not technically an influencer, but she certainly has the kind of audience and influence we associate with one. She’s currently being sued by investors who allege that she didn’t use her platform to help grow her mental-health startup. It makes me wonder if a large following actually translate into meaningful, sustainable monetization for a startup? Alex Cooper and her beverage company are another interesting example.
