Mechanical Tension is the ONLY thing that gets the biological processes of hypertrophy started out. Nothing complicated, just need involuntary slowing of contractions. It’s the high degree of cross bridging between actin and myosin that needs to take place. - You can have volume with ZERO mechanical tension. I don’t really see how volume can be an argument. You can do plenty of volume with no involuntarily slower contraction speeds and get ZERO hypertrophy - Mechanical tension doesn’t “need” muscle damage. But muscle damage does need mechanical if you want to stimulate hypertrophy. You can have muscle damage by simply causing a contusion and have ZERO hypertrophy. - Mechanical tension doesn’t need metabolite accumulation, but metabolic stress NEEDS mechanical tension. You can accumulate metabolites by simply doing blood flow restriction at rest. ZERO hypertrophy will take places. - Lengthened partials aren’t anything special. The majority of you already have adaptations to where you can no longer grow from passive tension. Sarcomerogenesis is for those without the adaptations. So the partials actually end up being more of a fatigue mechanism due to more calcium ion accumulation - Dropsets, supersets, etc are all not needed. If you’re short on time, it’s a tool u can use. But they’re really just ways to unnecessarily increase CNS fatigue and limit high level mechanical tension with higher threshold motor unit recruitment. #fyp #GymTok #Fitness #bodybuilding #gym
