I really disagree the movie has a bunch of good stuff like Magneto killing Nazis, Magneto and Charles’s relationship (which also features one of the most moving scenes in any superhero movie when Charles helps Eric move the satellite by digging up a happy memory about his mom in his mind), the young mutants actually getting some personality and development instead of only Charles and Eric and the final act is really good. It’s not a flawless movie but it’s pretty good

Thank you!! I’ve been saying this for years hated the way they wrote the women like how could you mess up the mystique and the Emma frost they took away all there complexity and both felt one dimensional ugh they massacre my girls 😒

This is also becuase of how the film was developed. It was supposed to be a Magneto spin-off like Wolverine. Then it was changed into a young Charles and Magento "buddy" film meant to explore the early years when they were friends before the X-men....and then Fox decided they wanted to make it a reboot of the franchise....differnt directors were attached and others through development before it was finalized into what it became. The script shows this...the movie starts on magneto as it was originally supposed to, and then becomes the buddy film as it was morphed into with suddenly Mystique mixed in, yes a complete character assisnation and recon of her character....then it becomes the xmen first class....which happens half way through and is yes done in montages and takes up 10 to 15 minutes before they pull the team apart and kill characters and head into the final act which is back to dealing with the original plot that focused on magneto from the begining...its chopped together and is ultimatley a Fox Frankenstein monster shaded in nestalgia colors and mid century modern decor.

I can’t agree here, I have this film as a well personal favorite. from the character selection, the plot, action scenes, and the emotional moments this film showcases, it hold a huge place in my heart. and honestly, I see this film as a way for those who are looking and starting off for the X-Men.
