There is no “dream guy” There is no romance. It’s all propaganda. It’s hard to swallow, but so many things are socially injected into us without us consciously accepting them. We’re just adapting to them. And it’s hard for some people to swallow the fact that we’re all influenced by it and that we can never completely escape it as long as there are women who deny it

Exactly why I don’t date anymore. I literally tell people all the time my eyes have been opened to the patriarchy in ways I cannot unsee. And it makes interacting with the average man hard bc even if he’s woke it seems that misogyny is the one thing they always hold on to.

this quote is correct. however, andrea dworkin was a deeply troubled woman who was as harmful for feminism as she was good for it. her life took away her ability to see conplex issues fully and she did have some vapid opinions that came from trauma and bitterness. her view of sex was harmful to women

A “dream guy” will always be an unrealistic fantasy because it doesn’t exist. Why do you think so many women write about the “dream guy”. Because they are creating a reality in which the grim one is replaced. Most of the time the books of romance are just guys who are obsessed with only one woman, would do anything for them, treats them with basic respect, and is attractive. That’s all. The fact that it has to be put into a book because the real reality women are faced with sucks, should be a tell tell sign

Even as a lesbian myself, the thought of having male friends especially straight male friends and coming to a realisation of how they perceive me and if he’s straight, just the possibility that they would have these predatory thoughts of hoping I’d change my mind about my sexuality and give them a ‘chance.’

Its so true, from the media we watch and the jokes husbands make to the standards we use to dress ourselves. what’s most frustrating is how we’ve started calling these patriarchal habits empowering just because we “choose” them. women are terrified to question their own choices because facing the truth means admitting how deeply rooted our behaviors are in misogyny. but bc finding true love and having kids are still framed as ultimate life goals, many choose the safety of ignorance over the heavy burden of unlearning misogyny.

this is one of the reasons i largely want to stay single as a dude cause like if you really are trying to be an ally then you wouldn't subject a women to being in a relationship with a man but i fumbled that and let me desire for love beat out that sentiment this year. being in a relationship also opened my eyes on how subconsciously engrained misogyny is in me and men in general. you don't even realize it sometimes but having seen it now i do see where i gotta work on myself so im grateful for that at least
