ok. before seeing this i didn’t understand how someone could defend her. but i see now. not only did she show evidence of genuinely caring about her kids, but she was prescribed TEN different medications within four months.. it takes a month or two just to get used to ONE medication. i had some crazy side effects from a certain medication i was prescribed and symptoms that i couldn’t control. a lot of people don’t understand, it genuinely can change ur brain chemistry.

dr tufts needs her license revoked fucking immediately. as someone who goes to psychiatrist appointments regularly, you wait AT LEAST 2-4 weeks to watch the medication really work. not 3 days to increase a medication. insane.

I remember starting Zoloft. I felt insane for the first 6 weeks. And then it turned me into a zombie. It’s insane none of the drs made her aware of this, or took this into account. The health system failed her. This all could’ve been avoided and those babies could’ve been saved.

hindsight is 20/20 but as a person who has been taking psych meds for 3 years i think she never gave any medication time to work. she blamed medication for her symptoms that were actually of mental illness and would've continued to worsen without the meds anyway. i think she needed to be hospitalised at least for a month to find the right medication for her, get stabilised and used to it. so many doctors had the chance to prevent what happened and none did

Coming from someone who had postpartum depression that was absolutely horrible, this hits incredibly close to home. My life, and probably especially my daughter’s life, was saved by the intervention of doctors and the attention and support of my family. I haven’t been able to bring myself to watch this case because I know just how differently my own story could have ended. I’ve also had to stay away from the comment sections because I cannot believe the amount of misinformation or the number of people acting like PPD is some kind of scam or excuse. I will never be completely free from the things I said during that time. My kids were too young to remember them, but I remember them, and carrying those memories is probably one of the worst forms of torment I will ever experience. Postpartum depression is real. It can be terrifying, devastating, and life threatening. It deserves to be taken seriously.
