@adivunsolicited: America’s wealth is a direct result of centuries of chattel slavery funding its industrial era in the North. Cotton was America’s largest export. Enslaved people were used as collateral for bank loans. Companies still in the Fortune 500 today, including New York Life and AIG, built their earliest business models insuring human beings as property. Then emancipation came and none of that wealth got redistributed. No land. No compensation. Just sharecropping, convict leasing, and later redlining, blocking Black families from the same tools that built white generational wealth for the next century. This isn’t a different opinion. It’s just the facts . Black history is American history. #BlackHistory #BlackTikTok #wealth #industrial #usa
I’ll say it again; If not for Black Americans there would be no United States as we know it today

it gave us a foundation of wealth to build an industrial base and become a world power.
Reparations, state and not local tax funded schools, end private prison slave complex, make public housing. This is the Way™️

Simple question. 🙋🏽♂️Why was it the longest economic foundation in this nation’s history? 400 years of a side hustle?

Even now it's obvious so much of the "economic growth" depends on paying workers as little as possible. How would free labor not be the cornerstone of this country being what it is today?

Somebody on here said that Slavery was only 2% of the population back then 😒 America in general had a small population. I’m an Ethnic Studies major, I can go and on about this subject. People need to read more.

Some of the practices underlying modern productivity management, including measuring individual output, setting performance targets, organizing workers for maximum efficiency, and using quantitative records to manage labor, have important antecedents in plantation slavery. Sound familiar? Because we’re judged by this every day in our current workplaces. Being able to control these elements and maximize them is what made America wealthy. So I don’t allow anyone to tell me that slavery is something that happened in our past. Quite frankly we’re ALL still living some form of it. We just get paid.
