@.bomaiyal.007: "Young Geologist Mc'Millian Sindu From Simbu Making History with his Team who built the First Ever Longest Tunnel in PNG" “Before going into Mumeng station to receive Bulolo District Plan , I dropped into a hydro construction site in Buang LLG where Buang river will run off through a 1.2km of down hill tunnel. Few years back this project was conceived but in 2020/2021 under late Hon Sam Basil’s leadership, we Government encouraged a private investor to develop this hydro based on their success at the massive 54 mw Edevu hydro in Central Province. It is good to have local investors having confidence in PNG and building in remote PNG. Today I made my own history by driving in possibly PNG’s longest mountain tunnel for more then 20 minutes. A young Kundiawa geologist ( Mcmallen) who supervised the construction was explaining the engineering behind the project. Looking forward to it’s completion. This power will supply Wau , Bulolo, Mumeng, Wafi , Hidden valley, Gairana and even out to fringes of Lae city. Just like for Edevu Hydro where government through KCHL contributed K110 million for the 132 kva lines to bring power back to NCD, for this Buang power, we shall contribute to bring power out from the hydro site. I complemented the local MP Hon S Basil Jnr’s good work with a K2m for reticulation lines to villages of water source and nearby villages. Our people must benefit with better lifestyle too in areas of resource harvest and in this instance, they must live with electricity as resource owners.
