@kingtosh101: 🌍✊🏾 Why does Africa keep waiting for one man to save it, instead of raising a generation that can? What if Ibrahim Traoré fails? I know some of my readers won't like this question... and I myself am one of the biggest supporters of what this man represents in Africa today. But big issues can't be shielded from difficult questions. What if Traoré fails? Does that mean the idea of liberation has failed? Does sovereignty become a mistake? Do we go back to believing that Africans can't govern their countries without external guidance? It's not like that. Yes, Traoré is a lion... but he isn't all of Africa. He might succeed in some things, his experiment might falter, and his country might face circumstances beyond his control... and that's perfectly normal. But what is unnatural is placing the dream of an entire continent on the shoulders of one man — and then, if that man falters, saying our dream has fallen. This is one of our oldest and greatest problems in Africa: we create a project from a leader, instead of creating leaders from a project. Sankara appeared. Then Sankara passed away, and we were left searching for another Sankara. Lumumba appeared. Then Lumumba passed away, and we hung his picture on the walls, still waiting for another Lumumba. We memorize the names of the lions. We memorize their speeches. We put their pictures on our shirts and our pages. But have we asked ourselves: have we created the environment that can produce others like them? I don't want that for President Traoré. I don't want a future generation to place his picture next to Sankara and Lumumba's, and then say with regret: "We once had a lion named Ibrahim Traoré..." I want Traoré's experience to be valued more than Traoré himself. I want an African child to see this man and not just learn to chant his name — but to learn that his country deserves to be defended. I want a young African to see what's happening in Burkina Faso and not wait for another hero to emerge, but to ask himself: "What can I do?" Because a continent that waits for a man to save it will fear for him every morning. But a continent that has planted the idea in the minds of its people does not fear the departure of men. A leader can fall. A leader can make a mistake. A leader can die. But what do you do with an idea that has taken root in the minds of millions? This is the Africa I want — one that doesn't wait for a new Sankara every fifty years, nor search for another Lumumba, nor place its entire future on the shoulders of Ibrahim Traoré. I want an Africa that can produce a thousand Sankaras, a thousand Lumumbas, and a thousand Traorés from among its own people. So when someone asks me, "What if Traoré fails?" — I'll tell them: someone else will continue the journey.
