It began earlier—when people who supposedly occupied different corners of the city kept crossing one another’s paths. Blair knew Cora. Cora knew Wren. Wren knew Blair. A tidy little triangle. Then another frame surfaced. Wren knew Jesse. Jesse knew Blair. Now it wasn’t a triangle. It was a circuit. Blair and Wren were the hinges. Cora and Jesse completed two different routes back to the same place. Nobody saw a conspiracy.
