The truth is, a lot of mothers like this are miserable themselves, and as adults, it becomes our responsibility to stop seeking love and support from someone who has repeatedly shown us they don’t have the emotional capacity to give it. I love this conversation because so many women struggle with this. From experience, please move on with your life. You can love your mother and still accept that she may never be the mother you needed her to be. At some point, you have to stop waiting and start living.
