@dani.davidson: I started to really struggle with my mental health especially because of my ADHD. My brains inability to slow down was causing me to constantly see fault in myself. I wasn’t doing enough for my kids or my husband or my business or anything. I felt like I needed to do more to prove myself to me. It was a losing game because all I was doing was burning myself out and making myself miserable. I wasn’t making time for myself, wasn’t reading my bible, I was just anxious and worrying about what may or may not happen. I knew God wanted me to slow down but I was scared. I was scared that life would pass by if I slowed down and just embrace motherhood. So I fought it, until it became unbearable and I realised that I had no choice but to ask for help. That night I acknowledged my feelings and asked for guidance. I prayed opened my bible and finally listened to him and of course everything got easier. #motherhood #God #faith #postpartum #depression

I remember when I had my second baby, because I had already set my standards for myself as a mother so high, almost unattainable it run me into the ground, especially when you have adhd the pressure you put on yourself is unbelievable. You have to take a step back, lower your standards in the right places and trust the process. Rest, fill your own cup and it will overflow into your children. I hope you have a village to support you through the peaks and troughs xx

This is so honest and raw and is not highlighted enough, I’m so proud of you for speaking about this❤️i remember having the most extreme intrusive thoughts with my oldest daughter, any time i walked up or down a flight of stairs “what if i threw her” when it came time to put her into a cot i convinced myself that I couldn’t sleep or she was going to die I would put mirrors near her mouth when she was too still….It’s so debilitating and is just not talked about enough. Thank god for me it was very short lived and I had the most amazing health visitor and I will never forget the words she told me “there’s intrusive thoughts and impulsive thoughts one is silly one is killy”😂maybe not the best analogy but it definitely helped me. Sending you love and light ❤️

So sorry 😩❤️I’m also ADHD and my post partum depression really spiralled after my second from her being about 2 months until she was about 9/10 months. We really cannot do everything, I tried to be perfect at everything and it’s just not possible, sometimes you just have to let the mess and chaos be, no matter how hard it is to want to sort everything. It shows you care though and you’re a good wife/mother, that’s what I kept telling myself because a bad wife/mother wouldn’t feel like that because they wouldn’t care. You’re doing great ❤️❤️❤️

We have this belief that God will never burden a soul with more than it can bear. You are absolutely smashing this mama, don’t let anyone, or yourself, tell you otherwise 🙏🙏🙏

You can’t do it all, looking after the kids, doing housework trying to look after yourself is hard enough xx

I’m so sorry girl 😢 It can be such a scary place PP in our neurodivergent brains. The depression scale at the GP doesn’t even measure neurodivergence at all. We completely slip under the net with PN care, as if women’s health isn’t bad enough in the first instance! We have to build these systems to cope with our ADHD over the years / decades and when we have a baby they fall apart and we need to build new ones ❤️‍🩹🫶🏼

You are doing amazing. I think motherhood can be so overstimulating at times and then add in a sprinkle of ADHD it’s tricky to manage. Pouring into our own cups and doing the things we love means we are better mums, more regulated. I started trying reiki and if you haven’t tried it I really recommend trying a few sessions and seeing how you feel. Definitely noticed I feel calmer 🩷

I couldn’t agree more it’s a subject that is so stigmatised and we as mothers always feel like we need to be doing the absolute most not only physically but mentally the mental load can be so overwhelming, my oldest is now 18 and I have two younger kids 11 and 9 and the singular most important and beneficial thing I did for myself in my later pregnancies was give myself grace, nothing has to be perfect because perfection doesn’t exist it’s my first time on earth too. You are a fantastic parent and are doing amazingly and that’s very clear to see. ❤️Xx
