0.99 miles from… Kopê House Coffee in Hayes Valley, San Francisco Part 1 of a series where we sample from the rich palette of vibes our city packs into even the shortest of walks. I’m particularly interested in little moments that go unnoticed, sometimes for years, in familiar places. Anyone who’s lived here successfully is well exercised in selective observation (focus on this impossibly ornate house and overlook whatever atrocity has spilled out onto the sidewalk today), and that causes us to miss a lot. A win for me: “The map says I’ve been there… heck, I live around the corner, but it looks so different.” Today, we walk from a semi-abandoned lot in NoPa, down Divisadero where we meet a guitarist/flip-flop enthusiast on his stoop, past a man vegetating in Alamo Square Park, narrowly skirt a duo of meter maids, and arrive in Hayes Valley to try Kopê House, a new coffee shop on Laguna St. 0.99 miles on the dot. #walk #map #coffee #sanfrancisco #sf - @matthewglong
