@trimblegeospatial: Hydrographic survey of a sump in Indonesia 📍 A sump is an exacavated basin used to catch water created during mine operations. During the mining process, water and sediment are pumped into the sump to keep roads and active areas dry. Sumps need to be mapped on a regular basis (here, every week) to monitor sediment changes on the bottom. This setup uses a Trimble R12 to provide positioning for the Ocean Alpha remotely operated survey vessel, which is sync’d with a Trimble Access and a dual freq single beam sonar to provide depth soundings every second. The dual-frequency sonar allows them to map the top and lower layers of sediment. #trimble #hydrographic
