Just chipping in here. I have an anal fissure. Saw private consultant for £250 and he referred me to his NHS list and got Botox 3 weeks later (yesterday). As I paid private he gave me his WhatsApp and kept in touch. He even text me this morning. Would be £3,000 private. I got lucky though I think but they can transfer you to their NHS list but depends on waiting list. I’m in Dorset so not so bad here. Sending hugs ❤️Money can be replaced one way or another, your health and sanity cannot.

Ask the private hospitals if they have an NHS contract for the colorectal team , then ho to your GP and ask them to send you there if the wait is 12 weeks or longer they have to send you privately . I did this in February and it smoothly

People moan about corporate jobs but one massive benefit is being able to go private. I’d never go back unless I’m forced to.

as an NHS defender, go private. you've got to look after yourself and any sooner you can bring this saga to a close, the better

I can vouch for going for a private consultation and then the consultant putting it through as NHS and it ending up being free and skipped the wait list!

If you look at private Surgeons check whether they also work within the NHS they can refer you back in. Things always seem to move so much quicker privately, always worth a consultation with a reputable surgeon. Look at those closest to you first and check reviews of the surgeons. Best of luck you are doing incredibly well, stay focused.

Sometimes if you pay and see a surgeon privately they will try and get things done in the NHS quicker. I’ve never regretted paying to see someone privately.

I would try the consultation first as ALOT of the consultants work NHS also and can refer you to them to be treated NHS

Firstly before you decide to go private. Call every hospital within a range you are happy to travel in, for arguments sake let’s say there’s 10 hospitals you’re happy to travel to and from. Ask them what the wait time is from referral to surgery with an urgent expedited referral, IF you find one that has an acceptable wait time for you that will avoid you needing to spend £5k, ask your gp to refer you on an urgent and expedited referral.

its worth finding out how long the wait list is on nhs for surgery , ring the secretaries at the hospital you are under !
if you pay private for the consultation, then transfer on the nhs you still have the same wait for surgery as nhs patients , you just skip the initial wait time for 1st consultation.
mine was a different type of surgery ,spinal, but I paid initially to see a consultant then transferred to nhs . if I could have afforded the surgery privately, 18k , I would have as my wait was 12 months on the nhs
