@theshellworks: Wait, is “compostable” packaging just plastic in disguise? When we see a single-use cup or packaging labelled as “compostable”, most of us picture an apple core or a fallen leaf: something that will easily break down in soil leaving no waste. Well unless it explicitly says “home-compostable”, it’s very likely that it’s only “commercially compostable”. This means that the material will only start to break down in industrial facilities with high temperatures that don’t exist in the wild or your backyard. In other words, if a commecially comparable cup ends up in a landfill or the ocean, it’ll stick around for decades or even centuries. Loopholes like this is why our team look beyond baseline regulations and marketing wordplay. We want to see more materials like VIVOMER to be the norm.
just my opinion on the video format the messages you guys are setting is wonderful but this video format is very confusing to read very small too much spacing and almost made me scroll

The example of the lid is a bad one, it says commercially compostable yet the discription says "after 6 months in our office compost bin".
Commercial composting works with higher temperatures that home compost bins never reach.

that lid needs to stay at 60° with high moisture to break down, a commercial compost heap very conveniently has those exact conditions

the pro's take the plastics out, there is no machine to seperate the bio from regular plastic.. so it all gets turned into biomass or waste.. basically this a scsm
