I suspect that road laws are more permissive there, for example in Europe, if you have tanks larger than 1000 liters you are required to have a dangerous goods certificate!!

Best set up I drove had 2 250 gallon tanks. My average trip was always 2k one week ( coast to coast) the price in fuel offset any reduction in mpg.
