His Excellency President Kiir thanked the Government and people of South Africa for their continued friendship and support to South Sudan’s efforts to conclude the transitional period under the Revitalized Peace Agreement and move toward a democratic future. His Excellency, President Kiir explained that preparations for the planned elections are progressing along four critical pathways: legal, administrative and logistics, security, and inter-party dialogue. On the legal pathway, about 90 percent of the required preparations have been achieved. On the administrative and logistics pathway, significant progress has been made: the National Elections Commission (NEC) headquarters has been purchased, NEC offices in all ten states are ready, civic education has been launched and is ongoing, and approximately 7,000 voter registration centers have been assessed. On the security pathway, His Excellency President Kiir reported that police personnel are currently undergoing training for election-related duties, with the Government committed to providing the necessary personnel, equipment and other logistical requirements. H.E. President Kiir noted that while attempts may be made by those opposed to elections to sponsor or exploit insecurity, such efforts will not stop the country from proceeding with elections. The people of South Sudan have waited a long time to exercise their right to choose their leaders. On the fourth pathway, inter-party dialogue, the President of the Republic explained that the expanded meeting bringing together the Presidency and leaders of the parties signatory to the peace agreement has already been established. The mechanism, established on January 26, 2026, provides for political dialogue on election-related matters, the development of a national consensus blueprint on the elections, and consideration of outstanding milestones under the Revitalized Peace Agreement. Preparations for the dialogue are continuing, with further details to be announced. His Excellency President Kiir also briefed President Ramaphosa on progress in the constitutional amendment process and other national developments, including the ongoing judicial process, which continues independently. During the discussions, President Ramaphosa reaffirmed South Africa’s continued support for South Sudan’s progress, peace and democratic transition. His Excellency President Kiir expressed appreciation for South Africa’s previous donations, its support to the National Elections Commission and its continued solidarity with South Sudan as it works to conclude the transitional period. The two leaders also exchanged views on regional peace and stability and the importance of continued cooperation between South Sudan and South Africa in supporting peace, development, and stability in the region. The meeting reaffirmed the strong and enduring bilateral relations between South Sudan and South Africa and the shared commitment to peace, stability and a democratic future for the people of South Sudan. #southsudanesetiktokers🇸🇸 #viralvideo #fyp
