@fokumlah1: Kenya has unlocked another level of politics in Africa. Ahead of the 2027 elections, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, the IEBC, says that under the current law, you do NOT need a university degree to run for President, Governor or Member of Parliament in Kenya. The degree requirement was challenged in court, and the courts found the relevant provision unconstitutional. As a result, the electoral commission says it currently has no legal basis to demand a university degree from candidates for these positions. Yes, you heard that right. Now, this has already sparked debate. Some people will ask, “How can you run a country without a university degree?” But let me ask a different question: Does having a university degree automatically make someone a good president, governor or member of parliament? Because the last time I checked, Africa has a lot of politicians with degrees. A degree does not automatically give someone integrity, leadership ability, good judgment or the ability to manage public resources. So perhaps the real issue isn't whether every politician must have a university degree. It is whether they are competent enough to lead. We need leaders who can understand complex issues, listen to experts, make sound decisions and be held accountable. And as voters, we need to look beyond degrees, political slogans, ethnicity and party affiliations when choosing our leaders. Because a degree can tell you what someone studied, but it cannot tell you whether that person can lead. At the same time, removing the degree requirement should never mean that education, knowledge and professional expertise don't matter. In essence, Kenya is saying that someone without a university degree can potentially be elected to lead people who may have higher academic qualifications. Kenya has opened an important debate for Africa: Should a university degree determine who can lead, or should voters decide who is qualified to lead?#kenyantiktok🇰🇪 #africa #panafricanism #southafrica #ghana @𝐊el 𝐎fficial @Sènatòr MENSAH @D.Haïti @Obed @PanAfricPulse @Manie Rupert @Francis @Anti-imperialist 🇬🇲 @QueenSugar @Frances Cordoms @KENYAN🇰🇪PRINCE @Crazy Kenyan

It's just another level of gatekeeping. Watch an old person gain Presidency, or it could become a family dictatorship.
