THE ỌBA OF FASHION🛍️🧵 :
This hit home for me. One year after graduation, I’ve realized that having many acquaintances isn’t the same as having genuine friends or connections. I was involved in almost everything—politics, modeling, pageantry, academics. I was always visible and always trying to achieve more. Coming from a background where I had very little, I felt like I had to become somebody and prove myself.
But now that school is over, I’m realizing how alone I actually am. My classmates greet me warmly when they see me, we vibe, and then we go our separate ways. Nobody checks on me, and I don’t check on anyone either.
Sometimes I wonder if, in my quest to achieve so much, I neglected the things that actually mattered. I made enemies, and some people saw my confidence as pride or arrogance. Maybe I did too much. Maybe I didn’t know how to balance being ambitious with simply being human and letting people in.
It’s such a contrast from who I was in school. I went from being surrounded by people to feeling like a lone wolf. Now, I’m trying to build genuine connections and find people I can actually call friends.
Maybe I didn’t fail. Maybe I’m just learning that being known by many people and being truly known by someone are two very different things.
