The Vikings attacked Lisbon and then sailed up the Guadalquivir River toward Seville. They captured and plundered Seville for several days. The Emirate of Córdoba, ruled by Abd al-Rahman II, responded by mobilizing its army. The Vikings were defeated near Seville and eventually withdrew from al-Andalus.
