choco flan for valentines day 🤎💌 definitely baking separately next time 😟 recipe: caramel- 1 cup sugar (200 g) heat the sugar in a saucepan over medium heat until fully melted and deep amber. carefully pour into a bundt pan and immediately tilt to evenly coat the bottom. set aside to harden. flan- 1 cup evaporated milk (240 ml) 1 cup sweetened condensed milk (320 g) 4 oz cream cheese ( very softened ) 4 large eggs ( room temp ) 1 large egg yolk (rt) 1 tsp vanilla extract (5 ml) pinch of salt mix all ingredients in a bowl except for the cream cheese, once combined move it to a blender and add the cream cheese. blend until just combined do not over mix it. chocolate cake: ( you can use box mix ! ) 1¼ cup sugar (250 g) 2 large eggs 2 tsp vanilla extract (10 ml) 1 cup milk (240 ml) ½ cup neutral oil (120 ml) 1½ cups all-purpose flour (190 g) 1 cup cocoa powder (100 g) 1½ tsp baking soda (7 g) 1½ tsp baking powder (7 g) 1 tsp salt (5 g) 1 tsp espresso powder (3 g) ½ cup hot coffee (120 ml) mix the eggs and sugar until combined. add the vanilla, milk, and oil and whisk until smooth. sift in the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and espresso powder and whisk until fully combined and thick. slowly whisk in the hot coffee until smooth and pourable. pour the chocolate cake batter evenly over the hardened caramel layer. hold a spoon just above the cake batter and slowly sieve the flan mixture over the back of the spoon, letting it gently spread across the surface. do not mix or swirl the layers will separate naturally during baking. ( mine looks a bit mixed bc i forgot the spoon trick until the end </3 ) place the pan into a larger roasting pan. carefully pour boiling water around it until it reaches halfway up the sides. cover loosely with foil, making sure it does not touch the surface. ( if you want cleaner layers bake the flan a little first then add the cake ) bake at 325 for 1 hr and 10 mins. ( mine took 2 hours and 30 mins because of the pan, after an hour check the cake with a toothpick, if batter is still coming out cover for another 30 mins, after the 30 mins if it’s still not finished take the aluminum foil off & continue baking until it’s ready. i’d reccomend 10 minute intervals. ) take the flan out of the water bath once finished and let it come to room temp on the counter before putting it in the fridge for 3-4 hours. once cooled take it out for about 20 mins before flipping onto a plate. enjoy! caption ib: jessserna #valentines #chocoflan #flan #Recipe #baking
