@metroentertainment: Dolly Parton International Airport? It could actually happen. A petition calling for Nashville International Airport to be renamed after the late country music icon has exploded in popularity following her death, gaining more than 100,000 signatures. The campaign, which was originally launched in January 2025, is calling for the airport to become “Dolly Parton International Airport” as a tribute to the Tennessee native's enormous cultural, economic and philanthropic impact. The idea has also picked up political and celebrity backing, with Nashville Councilman Russ Bradford supporting the proposal and country star Sheryl Crow among those backing the campaign. Tennessee State Representative Todd Warner has also said he plans to introduce legislation supporting the name change. There's even a Dolly-inspired slogan attached to the campaign: “Departin' from Parton.” 👀 Any official name change would still need approval from Nashville's airport authority and the Federal Aviation Administration. #DollyParton #Nashville #DollyPartonInternationalAirport #CountryMusic #MusicNews
