leave the outline . if you remove it the belt might mess up the lettering since the outline takes the brunt of the sander first . I could be completely wrong just a thought

I cut a small sight window on my 36" timesaver so I can watch the belt tracking, they can be finicky at times

Can you stamp the outline afterwards? That would probably look best. BTW, Lucas makes a "red n tacky" grease in an aerosol now that would be perfect for those slides long term.

Adjust the depth of the outline maybe? That way when the letters get sanded they are the only parts making contact. No expert so I very well could be wrong

🤔Better spray a clearcoat on as soon as those come out. Aluminum can oxidize to a VERY ugly blackish color under certain humidity conditions.
