hi, aldi assistant manager here… we dont know what people COULD do to the returned product, so its a safety issue unfortunately.. not saying everyone tampers with returned product but you never know 😬

That not aldi that’s the law. And unfortunately it’s because what’s more fucked up is while you did other people will do that AND contaminate it, so that’s why it’s the law for return.

It’s an FDA code/rule with some exceptions like crackers. It does become the states right to decide if they want to take back the exception. It’s due to safety due to tampering

You're lucky they accepted it and refunded your money. Stores can't resell food, period. It's not just Aldi. That's why most stores won't let you return food.

It really comes down it to being a safety issue. there are some very sick people in this world who would love to contaminate food, return it, and watch other suffer.

Because for all they know a needle could’ve been inserted and a pinhole not seen by the eye. The box could’ve been opened and resealed. iIt’s a risk they can’t take.

Safety issue. I appreciate they don't put returned food back on the shelf. I would be furious if I found out I bought someone's returned food. Did you ask if you could donate it?
