I think they are great rules. I however am staying in my daughters guest room the first week not or the baby but to be available to help her anyway I can; laundry dishes, anything to make her easier so she can enjoy just focusing on the baby as my mom did that for me.

I went and visited for 4 hours… but my visit was to make Mom’s life easier. My visits included being 3-4 meals for the fridge, cleaning, running laundry, and doing everything to take the load off mom while she sat and held and fed baby. When she was ready it was wash my hands good and then hold baby while mom got a nice warm shower, self care, and ate, and then give baby back to her, but she could shower knowing someone loved Mom first and wanted to put her at ease, and make her life easy so she could focus on her baby. I’m only coming to visit for any length of time if you’re giving me a wish list of what can I do so you feel less stressed and I can take something off your plate. You’re not entertaining me I’m taking care of you!!!

Also no smoking for 24 hours before hand. Clothes cant have smoke odour. Its toxic but I am really eager to set boundaries when my baby comes. I was always the people pleaser and pregnancy has killed that.

For me I noticed some people always had something to say and couldn’t just follow my rules. I find the pushback so disrespectful and many times it made me want to shut down. It’s especially hard when it’s family you say don’t do this and they say, oh it’s OK and keep doing it or say It’s not a big deal, etc. and then you’re the bad guy for being stern or upset. It’s true common sense isn’t that common at times.

Very reasonable. I would do whatever my son and dil wanted even if that meant not visiting the first week(s). The last thing I would want is to chance making the baby ill or stressing out already stressed new parents

People commenting about rules being to strict for the baby sometimes the mother and father of that baby just want to soak in that time as a new family on their own too and not feel like they have to share and please everyone else, people are allowed to make rules to make their time with their newborn baby special to it’s not about making other family members happy and pleasing them they’ve had their little families.
