Heroin and methamphetamine here. I found Jesus Christ through the 12 steps. The 12 steps led me to reading the Bible, and the Bible led me to Jesus

I am a catechumen struggling with alcoholism. I know I will lose my salvation and I know I can't be chrismated being so. I am struggling so hard. I wish father would take this cup from me and get rid of it all

I hear a lot of wisdom in this. The 12 Steps led me back to Christ. Many criticize AA in theological circles for being too open, but without it, I wouldn’t be able to participate in those circles and discussions like this. A few years ago, I made amends to a priest that I had wronged, and last year he baptized my daughter. You can’t tell me God wasn’t all over that.

People don’t talk enough about “confession” and what it is or does. Well said!

Greater is He who is in us than any of the spirits in this world: you have to be smarter than alcohol- wine is a mocker and beer is a brawler- but as our Lord made wonderful wine- we can do better than the temptation

Question? I recently attended vespers and was excited to go. However when I heard the priest speak to John the Baptist going to hades to tell them Christ was coming I was perplexed. It’s been bothering me so I dove in looking at the ancient text and codex as well as tradition and in my spirit this is sitting well. You having had an evangelical back ground I’m curious your thoughts. Thanks

I learned of Christ first before I quit...Jesus loved me and I loved him while in the midst of my alcoholism...I learned to trust him and find comfort in his words through the scriptures...I came to a point where I was sick of being sick...Christ saw my pain and depression and my tears I shed because of my drunkenness and through his strength was pulled from the bottle....I was an 18 year alcoholic I am now 6 months sober Glory to God ✌️
