I get the point about parasocial obsession, but I think people are mixing that up with simply grieving somebody who had an impact on your life. You don’t have to personally know or “worship” somebody to be sad when they die people like Michael Jackson, Kobe Bryant, Chadwick Boseman, Robin Williams and so many others gave people music, movies, sports moments, memories, inspiration and whole parts of their childhood, so when they’re gone you’re mourning what they brought to the world and knowing you’ll never see them create anything new again; yeah, some fans take it way too far, but being genuinely hurt over losing somebody whose work meant something to you isn’t automatically weird or parasocial.
