What makes that song amazing is it started as a country ballad and exist as a full scale orchestral ballad. It’s a testament to Dolly’s writing and Whitney‘s musicality. Both on repeat is my vote.

Whitneys singing is so perfect and powerful you just kind of get lost in the sound and in her voice. Dollys "acts out" the lyrics in the way only the writer of the song typically does. You hear in it the meaning and the sadness. For that reason I prefer Dollys version.
