@timkennedymma: I grew up with some pretty amazing male role models. My grandpa coming from the greatest generation. My incredible uncles that served during Vietnam and loved me fiercely. My dad dedicated his life to protecting and serving the community. My big brother who I’ve seen lose years of his life and now more gray hairs than we can count doing the same thing as our dad. I want my son to be a man who will stand his ground, protect the vulnerable, and treat ordinary life as morally serious. Outside of my family. I was surrounded by more amazing men. But as I look back, I think about all the other men that shaped my life and compare it to who young men today have to look up to. William Wallace, George Washington, Teddy Roosevelt, John Wayne countless characters. We need men that are courageous, honest, loyal, and a have willingness to suffer for a people or a principle; Atticus Finch does the same in a quieter key, defending a man the crowd wants condemned. Steve Irwin and Luke Nichols of Outdoor Boys turn that same energy toward wonder, family, and the living world. Mr. Rogers embodies all of these in his own way. The list goes on and on. But they all have something in common… Jesus Christ! He pushes it further into patient kindness, dignity for children, outcasts, you, me, and love that does not need an audience. The resemblance is not that they were all saints or the same kind of man; it is that each, in story or in fact, is remembered as choosing duty, family, truth-telling, or mercy over cynicism and ease.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
