Update: Qualified immunity denied. Both father and daughter identified as MM have filed separate federal civil lawsuits against Trooper Derosha. Felony charges against the father, Mr. Morris were reduced to a traffic infraction, improper driving. As of this date federal litigation is still active.

I rushed my wife to the hospital at 4am, thinking she was having a heart attack. A Sarasota County Sheriff's Deputy pulled me over after I ran a red light. I got out and told her what was going on. What did she do? She escorted me the rest of the way to the hospital. Two hours later my wife had 4 stints put in her arteries. No cop ego. No guns, and no ticket. Just a compassionate cop that helped us.

The fact he’s comfortable saying he’s going to kill the dad after he explained his daughter is suffocating on camera is all I would need to see and hear to put the cop away for life.

The cop threatened to kill the driver trying to get out to save his daughter. He needs to be fired. Why didn’t 911 call him and say hey lead them to the hospital it’s a medical emergency.

If I was a cop in the same circumstance, you’re following a car that’s running red lights and speeding… pulls into a hospital right up to the emergency entrance. Common sense would indicate that there is probably an emergency coming up with your gun drawn is ignorant.

The moment the speeding car pulled into a hospital common sense should have told the officer this was a medical emergency and any action on his part could wait until they delivered the child to the emergency room. Then and only then should he approach the driver. Disgraceful that he still has a job.
