@solcrestinc: A pressure relief valve is the last line of defence. Controls fail, alarms get ignored, interlocks get bypassed. This one can't be switched off — the process pressure itself opens it. But a valve can be correctly set, freshly overhauled and certified, and still fail on its first lift. Usually because of the pipe it's mounted on.
