Wow she needs a divorce. 35 is young - she can still have a happy life.

He presented as exactly who and what I wanted, needed and filled me with hope that he was the ONE. He encouraged me to open up and express my feelings. He was a good communicator and expressed his feelings, thoughts and emotions so easily. When I finally opened myself up to him and bared my vulnerable self to him he slowly used my feelings, my vulnerability and beliefs as being wrong because my thoughts differed from his views. My words were used as a weapon to make me feel less than, wrong, ignorant . I slowly became a shell of myself, lost my sparkle and trust in myself. When I reached my darkest days and wanted to leave this world, as I stood in front of him and bared my entire soul to him. I was told to just get over it and quit being dramatic. 4 years I allowed him to reduce me to almost nothing because I HOPED if I just tried harder that he would become the man he was in the beginning. I feared being able to take care of myself and my daughter without him. Fear and hope are the most powerful emotions and we hold you back and in places you need to leave. I reached my breaking point and left. The relief of not being questioned, accused and in fear of doing something wrong that would lead to terrible fights. I loved the potential of who he could be and how he was in the beginning. When I felt weak and wanted to reach out to him I had to remind myself of how he made me feel, his actions and how he manipulated me. I was blind to his tactics because I desperate to please him and do anything to prove myself. Now, 8 years later after him I still find myself longing for the version of him that I wanted him to be. But I’ve also relearned to be myself and see the ways I allowed him to break me. I have chosen my PEACE over being a convenient PIECE to anyone.

I always hear the women acknowledging some level of responsibility and accountability, looking for reasons in their sacrificial behaviour for how they could have done more. I have never heard this consistent a level of either from men under any circumstances, just excuse. Hope she’s okay.

This is beautiful and heart wrenching at the same time. I feel this to my core thinking about my marriage and divorce. It took YEARS to find myself again and heal. I hope she was able to do the same.

The fact that her life was on a boat but she wanted more, just an example of the difference between waiting for waves and enjoying the ride.

I’m 36 and I’ve had a hard life. I’ve learned to judge all my relationships by what happens when hardships hits. I’m not a fair weather friend/partner and I don’t want a fair weather friend/partner.

I love the analogies she made. it's very relatable, especially when she describes basically the honeymoon stage and parent hood, how something that was perfect in size is no longer, how they reach out and grab the hand to help but then not so much. she did beautiful on this.
