@the.mike.cole: The government wants to solve Canada's housing crisis with factory-built homes - but would you actually buy one? 🏗️ Here's my take on what it means for buyers in Brantford and Brant County. 👇 Mike Cole Sales Representative Coldwell Banker Homefront Realty, Brokerage 📱: (519) 777-5935 📞: (519) 756-8120 📩: [email protected] #BrantfordRealEstate #BrantCountyLiving #CanadaHousing #HousingAffordability #BrantfordHomes
Mattamy did this in Cambridge, ON. We had one. They built our house in a factory and brought it over on a remote controlled skid thingy. It was pretty cool! The house itself was fine! No issues 🤷♀️

Living in Brantford :
They are built in temperature controlled factories so they can build all year round

Incorrect the stigma is known as development fees from the government which are more than the contractor profits from a single dwelling

They are lower quality. They also pay the workers less. Workers on site already don't get paid enough.

Like anyone trying to make top profit. Low quality is definite in modular homes. These homes shine with the new smell at first then deteriorate fast with zero character to fall on.

What housing crisis. town house, appartment complexes, high rise , whole sub division on every available plot of land here. Factories galore, all new builds. Thousands of new homes being built on all farm land being sold. I don't see a housing shortage !

There were never issues with people purchasing modular homes. No negativity about them until the Liberals suggested them. I'd buy a modular home because there is nothing wrong with them.

Module homes are great if done right. But most usual do it to save money

Mobile homes need to be added to that and rent controls on the fees

Have people seen the low quality of new homes being built? This does depend on the builder but there is a lot of shoddy work out there.

I lived in a modular home. it was built inside and it had two halves. it had a garage and it had a basement. it was wonderful. it was the best home I had because the walls were so thick that it kept you from the cold and the heat. it was a great great house

The condition of these homes does not age well. Traditional construction homes have a much longer life span.

The designs ARE generic. BUT what they should do is build modular super energy efficient houses like Passive Houses or Net Zero. The problem is that they’re built to code which is lowest quality house that law will allow.
