What a lot of people dont realize is that the land that was bought was owned by ExxonMobil. so that land was already not able to be hunted on. SpaceX plans on building up the marsh and the coast. Noone said anything when ExxonMobil purchased the land.

Just going to add my two cents to this conversation whether you like it or not. Y’all keep saying SpaceX is going to kill our way of life. That way of life has already been dying. Do not pin the funeral on rockets. I am from Southwest Louisiana. This is not theory. Commercial fishing, shrimping, crabbing, processing plants, ice houses, boat yards, charter captains, hunting guides, trappers, camp cooks, and dock workers used to put money in this coast. Then the jobs thinned out, boats got sold, families left. Wetlands kept washing away and the people screaming the loudest now were quiet when it was actually happening. That was not Elon Musk. That was cheap imports flooding the market until Gulf seafood was not worth running a boat for. That was fuel costs, regulations stacked on working people, and a government that talked about the coast while the paycheck economy on that coast collapsed. Licensed shrimpers went from thousands to around 1,400. Dock prices got crushed. Plants closed. Guide work got thinner. The marsh kept disappearing. That is a long, slow government failure, not a SpaceX press release. Now they are bringing Starbase Louisiana to Vermilion Parish. About 125,000 acres near Pecan Island. Up to $100 billion. Construction in 2027. First launch targeted for 2029. Thousands of jobs. About 3,000 direct jobs at roughly $92,600 average pay, with SpaceX saying it could climb toward 10,000, plus thousands more indirect jobs. Parish payments starting at $25 million a year and growing, about $820 million over 25 years. And this is the part the naysayers skip. SpaceX is not just dropping pads in the marsh and leaving. They have said they will keep very large portions of that land untouched so high value wetlands stay habitat instead of turning into concrete. They have said they will partner with the state and federal agencies on Louisiana’s Coastal Master Plan. They have talked about Gulf shoreline protection, breakwaters, and work to slow the erosion that is already eating this coast. Some of this shoreline has been losing ground by the foot every year. SpaceX rocket fuel is liquid oxygen and liquid methane and when burned the exhaust is carbon dioxide, water vapor and heat. Harmless. These people are trying to scare residents.
