I have an unruptured aneurysm that was found by accident. Coiled and stented. I feel like preventative testing is better than reactive treatment? It’s scary to think what COULD have happened if it wasn’t found early enough?

Radiographer here. unless you work in the health field you just don't know, there are so many unnecessary scans which cause follow ups for benign things. Increasing anxiety. increasing radiation dose. The doc is right

Yeah no. Her own doc said she didn’t need it because she was healthy. She got it anyway and they found her tumor. Everyone should be able to afford this scan. It’s better to be proactive than reactive.

Respectfully, I disagree considering my mother and her mother had breast cancer, my father died of bladder cancer, my kids’ dad has multiple myeloma. I had a colonoscopy before the recommended age and had 2 pre cancerous polyps removed. I would like all the tests please.

Nah. These are helpful. I had a migraine for a week. Went to the hospital and found numerous blood clots in my brain. This happened to me TWICE. Very happy to have annual brain scans now.

The amount of gaslighting by doctors is the reason people are having to pay out of pocket to get testing. I’m not saying that everyone should have one but if your gut is telling you something is wrong and the doctor chalks it up to “anxiety” “hormonal” or “IBS” they should be allowed to advocate for themselves and pay out of pocket and not have to be guilt tripped about it 🤷🏻♀️As a nurse that worked in hospice, I can’t tell you how many times a patient came to me telling me that their doctor ignored them until it was too late. That doctor gets to move on with their life this patient doesn’t.

Why American doctors are so against preventative medicine? All over the world it’s normal part of medical care but in US they call preventative screening “mental distress”. People are not going to die if they to that MRI. US medical system and doctor training is so backwards.

Well we haven’t tried this approach yet and clearly our current approach is trash. No one is happy with our healthcare system and doctors frequently complain patients are making things up. We waste time and money going for an xray, then ct then MRI. And patients spend years trying to get doctors to listen to them. It would in fact do the opposite and ease anxiety. the masses have already spoken that they HATE the way our healthcare is ran. Maybe doctors should start considering those incidental findings as legitimate and maybe you guys just don’t have enough education or research on what it is doing the body. Maybe learn more instead of saying “it’s probably not ever going to be a problem for you” while the pt is actively complaining of symptoms no one can figure out. Health care needs to stop being so damn reactive and start being proactive and preventative. Instead of waiting till a patient is on their death bed to take them seriously.

I paid for a private brain MRI after debilitating headaches for weeks , thankfully it was nothing just a horrific migraine but the piece of mind was amazing and the headache eventually lifted ✨

Just because you don’t wanna read the scans and worry about it doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be happening. The number of times doctors dismiss symptoms and ignore people is ridiculous, especially for women.
