I have a theory that the player is Nate Carpenter, the head of Gas Production. In the first three chapters we were recognized, but in chapters 4 and 5, we weren’t recognized. This tells us our work did not exceed Playcare. Also in chapter 4, there’s a calendar for a puzzle with a note that says “Nate will be out next week” and what’s next week? The Hour of Joy. I might be wrong tho

The original creator of *Poppy Playtime* had a whole story mapped out—including the true identity of the character we play as—but he was literally ousted from his own game during Chapter 3; that’s why the first three chapters feel so much better and so different from Chapters 4 and 5. He wanted the whole thing to truly come to an end in Chapter 5.
