That executive order was effectively a resurrection of 'Ugly Laws,' and we are NOT talking about it enough on a national level. I've been shouting this to anyone that will listen, but what's happening to y'all is terrifying and dangerous to absolutely ALL of us. That executive order in D.C. is a test for it to go national, and it doesn't just include unhoused persons. The way it's written, it also includes anyone that *LEOs* (NOT a doctor!) deems to be: an addict of any kind, to have ANY sort of disability (seriously think about how loose that interpretation can be), to be a public nuisance (hello protestors), an enemy of the state (hello again, protestors), or to be mentally unwell (again, this does NOT require a medical diagnosis, but can absolutely include one.. so if you've ever told your doctor you're feeling stressed, or down... or if an LEO conveniently decides you have 'tr*mp derangement syndrome'... seriously, these interpretations are loose as FUCK). And these people can be held 'indefinitely.' This is literally a step in P2025. It even states 'if proper accommodations cannot be found in state hospitals, sanitariums, prisons, etc, these persons will NOT be released back into the public. accommodations will be found elsewhere' (paraphrasing... but think about just how many ice facilities have been built). 'Ugly Laws' were a way for towns and communities to get rid of anyone they just felt... didn't fit in. The neighbor's disabled son. The mouthy housewife. The town drunk, etc. And they were involuntarily locked away in state-run sanitariums, and often treated horribly, experimented on, and/or neglected. The last of these laws didn't come off the books until the 1990s. What you all are experiencing is a return of them in FULL FORCE. PLEASE KEEP FIGHTING!! 🖤
