People really seem to forget that VPN companies can, will, and have been subpoenad for information, and there's not a great deal they can do to say no. If the company running the VPN is in a country friendly to whatever government you're hiding from, they could still find you if they wanted to. If the company isn't from a country friendly with yours, do you really want them being the ones with all the access to your data?

Besides, IP address is just one variable in device ID, and the giants like google have already profiled your devices and a simple IP change can't fool them
