@crimexpod: On August 5, 2013, a sleepover in Campbellton, New Brunswick, ended in a horrifying tragedy. Brothers Connor Barthe, 6, and Noah Barthe, 4, were spending the night at a friend’s apartment, located above an exotic pet store owned by the friend’s father. While the two brothers slept together in the living room, a massive African rock python escaped its enclosure and entered the building’s ventilation system. Investigators determined that the snake traveled through the ductwork before falling through the ceiling into the room where the children were sleeping. The python was estimated to be nearly 14 feet long and weighed close to 100 pounds. Both Connor and Noah were killed. Their friend, who was asleep in another room, survived. The incident shocked investigators and the public, with experts noting how extraordinarily uncommon it would be for a python to attack two people during the same incident. Police found no evidence that another person was responsible. The snake was euthanized, and other reptiles were removed from the property. The pet store owner was later charged with criminal negligence causing death, but a jury found him not guilty in 2016. A tragic case that continues to raise questions about exotic animal ownership and safety. #TrueCrime #AnimalAttack #Python #Canada #CrimeStory Source: @deadvoid.est
