i have bipolar 1 disorder with psychotic/schizophrenic symptoms/features. there have been times where i’ve had some pretty nasty arguments with my fiancé . never once did it even cross my mind to hurt him physically. i have never physically attacked anyone i love, whether that is friends, family, or romantic partners. mania makes you unstable, and yes, can make you into a different person. but it doesn’t turn you into an abuser overnight.
