That's horrible. It is selfish, but you don't know how hard life was for him. He was in serious "pain". You try and justify why people do it, and their has to be as many reasons as choices.

I have a question, in a previous video you talked about a man who joined the community and then was shunned afterwards for seeing his family that were non Amish. When you take your daughter or son to go see their grandma, is she at risk of getting shunned because of seeing her non-Amish family? Or is she part of a less strict community?

That makes it even more heartbreaking.. 😔 I can imagine leaving behind your family and everything you’ve ever known is scary, and staying there probably felt very suffocating. I’m so sorry for your loss, no matter what his reasons were, it doesn’t make it any less painful for those who stay behind.
