@georgiejxmes: I’ve noticed recently that luxury consumers have little interest in so-called high culture and this study appears to confirm that #luxury #luxuryfashion #taste #celebrity #celebrityculture
i dont think top luxury consumers care about celebrities.Instagram followers are celebrity focused ,so ofcourse they would hire these celebrities to get the most traffic.Brands use social media to create brand awareness not necessarily to sell. The data means nothing.

A lot of luxury brands have departments that work with art/on art related projects, but I think it’s mostly reserved/targeted to VIC customers not general public

Reading is a status symbol, but seems almost uniquely likely to cause upheaval. SJP was a judge in a literary prize recently. She mentioned, in promotions, that that often meant reading a book a day. Fine; that's her job. But the barrage of resentment that that brought was...startling.

i don't know if engagement on Instagram = luxury consumer interest, alot of the people engaging with this campaigns never going to buy the product of they are os going to be lower ticket items like perfume and makeup

I loved Heaven by Marc Jacobs in 2020, the celebs featured and the styling was top tier and painted a lot of people in a completely unique way to how the audience usually saw the at the time. I think it’s a good example of how campaigns can draw specific people in using celebrities

I’ve always felt those who are more average/commerical fashion consumers have more interesting taste than those are more exclusively luxury bc they are more open minded and diverse in their taste and have more unorthodox and thought provoking ideas to fine arts.

Luxury consumers can have the lifestyle of a celebrity in almost every way but possessing genuine talent that endears them to the public, and they envy so much that they value buying proximity to celebrity as a way to make up for it

I think in the current social media age, people care less about good quality, and more about what looks to be good quality, or more specifically, what is a wealth signifier. In an age where status (for many) comes from how we appear online, items that are branded in a way that depicts wealth are very valuable, regardless of how functionally well made the item is. In an era before social media, for everyone other than the tabloid celeb and social climbers, wealth signifiers were not worth the money

Rich people do definitely care about celebrities. The main reason why “celebrity culture” is dying is because working class people don’t like to see them flaunt their wealth. Rich people simply don’t care. They worship celebrities like Kate Moss, Gwyneth Paltrow, Bella and Gigi, etc. And older celebs like Mick Jagger, John Travolta, Johnny Depp, David Bowie etc.
