I don’t think Steven necessarily looks alien, but he might look too perfect. Perfect skin with no visible pores, perfect teeth, eyes, etc. Aside from canonically looking way younger than he is. When he was 14 he looked the same as he looked when he was 9, so chances are now at 16 he looks like he was supposed to look at 13-14. He ages slowly which also makes him less human

They’re canonically attractive to humans. So I don’t think they look uncanny in the way the au depicts them. But I imagine Steven probably does have traits that make him slightly off just nothing so noticeable that they’d find him scary.

Who’s to say that aliens are uncanny and “ugly” though? The amount of people in beach city who have fallen for gems is WAY too high for them to be uncanny, I think they look more..ethereal, like something you literally cannot belive you’re seeing, and Steven probably just has more exaggerated features, maybe he even looks TOO perfect because he’s a balance of human and “ethereal being”
