Her attempt at sounding sympathetic and heartfelt during closing was contrived and transparent. It sounded, to me, like a bully was mocking their target.

This take does not seem like it is without your opinion. I understand it, but I think your opinion on the case did make you feel this way about closings. The prosecution saying the kids were broken toys because she was done playing a game, is inaccurate and odd no matter what your views are on this case or what the outcome should be.

I didn't think his was great, but I can't say I ever felt the prosecution proved anything damming against her. The prosecutors seemed ill-prepared for most of the case and were all over the place throughout the whole case. At times during the case, I had to stop myself and say does the prosecution realize some of their witnesses are saying things that disprove their case against Lindsay.
I'm still trying to figure out what they thought her motive was. They used the statement about the kids being broken toys and she was done playing with them, but they NEVER showed how that was true as they presented the case. Sure, there was the part about how she said she felt some resentment towards Cora and Dawson because she couldn't parent Callen as she would have if he was her first. However, I think those feelings are things most mothers with more than one child grapples with. I don't think that was her saying she hated the older two because if that was the case why would she have killed Callan as well? I think motherhood is oversimplified and sometimes we have complex feelings that take some time to come to terms with. Instead of presenting the case as a mother who was tired of being a mom and checked out, they painted a picture of a mother that was devoted to getting help so that she could be the mother her kids deserved. They never showed the resentment as anything, but a one off feeling she had one night.

The prosecutions closing arguments were completely opposite from their opening statements.

I disagree. The prosecution still failed to provide real evidence for a criminal basis and they decided to attempt to show sympathy at the last second. They even said “Patrick’s memory is not reliable” … ok so now your first witness is not reliable? And your experts took his account into consideration?

I also didn’t like how he referred to her as a girl / kid a few times… like I get it but just describe her as “young mother” or something instead

I agree. He seemed flustered and irritated. I think anyone that thinks CW did bad in closing just didn’t like hearing what they were saying 🤷🏽♀️

Yeah, I agree. He was hitting random points, but wasn’t telling a story. The prosecution told a story.

I honestly didn’t get that from him but I get what you mean. I feel like every time he talks about her “killing the kids” he’s talking about the prosecutions POV, whenever he’s talking about his POV he is stating that “the kids were killed” but that’s only if the jury has been picking up what he’s been putting down the entire case

Agree. I was SHOCKED at how well the prosecution did…I had no idea they had that in them. Reddington was INCREDIBLE during the trial in his ability to break down witnesses but the prosecution nailed the closing
