@dinalynee: We talk a lot about bad OCD therapy. Here's what it looks like when it's actually working. 1. You're doing real groundwork. You track your triggers and build a fear ladder, a ranked list of your fears from easiest to hardest. That's the plan the whole treatment runs on. 2. You do exposures, in session and out. You face the fear and skip the compulsion, with support. This is the engine. If exposures are happening, you're doing the real work. 3. Your therapist won't reassure you, and tells you why. They don't answer every "but what if." Reassurance feels good for four seconds, then the doubt comes back louder. A good one won't feed it. 4. They teach you to sit with uncertainty instead of solving it. You ask "how do I know for sure," and they have you practice "maybe, maybe not." Chasing certainty is the trap. 5. Progress is what you can do now, not whether the thoughts are gone. Touch the doorknob without washing. Send the text without rereading it ten times. The thoughts may still show up. Your life just gets bigger. If this is the therapy you want, my ERP workbooks are linked in my bio to start on your own. And if you want to work together, I'm an LMHC trained in ERP, the number one treatment for OCD. . #OCD #ObsessiveCompulsiveDisorder #OCDProblems #exposuretherapy #exposure
