History records how verbal promises or non-binding documents are often broken once the calculation of power changes (such as the Budapest Memorandum or previous agreements). Ignoring the existential risk of the world's largest defense alliance based only on verbal assurances from the same leader who has been proven to violate the territorial boundaries of sovereign states in Europe is the peak of analytical failure. Um... so The statement is not a certainty of fact, but rather a projection of personal optimism that is empty of substance. Making "good talk" as a geopolitical shield for NATO's sovereign territory is a fragile and empty form of self-defense on paper.
